Method Man, M-Dot & Dominique Larue – Shine(Video)

Some months back, Boston lyricist M-Dot let loose the 1st official single “Shine” off his long awaited debut album “Ego and The Enemy” (2 Part CD release). The track, which evokes raw Hip-Hop balanced with a current-day clean sound immediately was embraced worldwide, accumulating over 100k plays collectively over multiple audio platforms. Now he follows up with visuals to the Method Man (Wu-Tang), Dominique Larue and Katy Gunn assisted smash in this aesthetically pleasing, creatively focused animated offering by Serbian based director Slobodan Bokka Medarevic and the Street Hearted Videosteam.
Over the course of the 4 minute vividly illustrated parable, “Shine” imaginatively depicts a group of young, ‘Independent’ minds fighting through the covert grip of their oppressors in order to once again illuminate society. The video uniquely showcases the constant conflict between good vs. evil, light vs. darkness. Most evident is the cautionary underlying that the ‘underground’ will not remain dormant forever… eventually WE will SHINE through!
“Shine” is the second video in M-Dot / Own Lane Music’s “4th Quarter” onslaught. “Ego and The Enemy” (Disc 1: due out early 2016) will feature production by Hi-Tek, Marley Marl, Buckwild, M-Phazes, Marco Polo, !llmind, Da Beatminerz, 7L, Snowgoons and many more. Also, the sequel to “Shine” has already been recorded with M-Dot, Tical, producerSoulplusmind and a few SURPRISE guests all aboard for Part 2 (story-bridging visual in the works as well).

shine 2

Nowadays it’s rare you see Hip-Hop pioneer, Wu-Tang legend Method Man appearing in features. Nevertheless, ten seconds in, that’s exactly what the uplifting and triumphant single “Shine” brings front and center. California based Film/TV score composer Soulplusmind lays the backdrop for Tical, alongside Dominique Larue (Columbus, OH) and M-Dot (of EMS) (Boston, MA) to articulate their lexicon, simultaneously showcasing an angst for hip hop that offers substance, with New York vocalist Katy Gunn providing the hook.

“Shine” is the lead single taken from underground staple and Beantown’s multi-award winning lyricist M-Dot’s two part debut album “Ego and the Enemy” (in stores 2015). The LP’s will feature production by Hi-Tek, Marley Marl, M-Phazes, Marco Polo, 7L and many more surprise industry respected beat-smiths (TBA). Note to DJs: ‘Shine’ is 100% obscenity free.
